ART

Art and especially African art has massive doses of mood, feeling and character meshed into it.

And I LOVE that.

I want to quickly say that while I do call myself an artist, this website is not going to be about my art.

I should probably also point out that any of the pictures used on this website are really to give it a bit of color and to make it more interesting than a pile of boring print. The pictures are not really relevant to the content of this website.

Hi.. I am Rob Anderson

I am a confusing mix of labels. Whilst I am and have been a full time artist, I am really more of a designer-artist or sculptor that an artist as you know it.

In fact I do not really try to promote my art commercially and while some of the pieces can be bought that is not what I am about.

If you really want to label my money side – then I am a marketer or a small business consultant.

So what I am finally getting to is to say that this website is in fact more of a portal to get you to the real destination that you were headed in by getting to this page.

Looking to view art and all its varieties…

These are some of the better known websites that will get you to some good viewing. Please remember that While I highly recommend that you go to …
bid or buy.co.za
to look at what is available it is more often than not that you would be better off at the websites that are purely art orientated and the same site allows any artist to display their art on the site without prejudice.

http://www.southafricanartists.com/ is a good option as it has a large amount of art on its website and ..

http://www.art.co.za/ has some high quality works.

Art galleries are driven by money, both the costs involved in promoting an artist and then in the sales that they can achieve of that specific artists work. Now I would say that that is all OK, but it allows for all sorts of crap to creep into the industry as the galleries are few and there are a lot of  artists.

There are thousands of artists that have shunned the galleries for what they really are and they all run extremely successful art businesses out of the small and beautiful towns across the country in places like Clarens.

Many gallery owners would trash those artists as kitch or “amateur” and other ridiculous labels. Until they have a need for a similar artist, and suddenly an artist that is a glorified decoupage crafter is suddenly catapulted into stardom because some gallery owner says so. All very sad. But do not be fooled the gallery owners and the hangers-types and the art investor’s all know exactly how and why it all works. And more power to them. Just like wall street.

So enough of the ranting – there is also a huge amount of crappy art, and that is to be expected. BUT it is important to remember that there is a buyer for every single artwork out there.

Give everyone a fair chance.

Finally a little warning to the Opinionated snobs – look at what has happened to the newspaper industries worldwide, and worry about your off-line Galleries.

Worry a lot!

Looking to sell and promote your own art…

That is initially very simple, get a correctly done website and start to brand your name like a maniac. If you like I am available to give you free advice and I would even go so far as to offer you a free website to get you started.

That is not the hard work. I will be giving you some training manuals and a long list of work that should keep you out of mischief for years. But if you do it correctly within a year or so you would have got your name properly exposed to the art world, and should therefore be earning great crust from your efforts.

Easy Peasy, to understand… hard hours of work to make it happen.

Why would I do this? Firstly I myself was in a position where I wished that I could know how to promote myself properly and earn money from doing the ART that I love.

Secondly I will be earning a small commission from your hosting so I am not being such a saint.
Ultimately I hope to build up a network of artists that refer each and are a community.

Thank you for your time here. If you need to contact me about the free website then here are my details.
